The Differences That Actually Matter
On paper these tents look almost identical, and in the hand they share the same budget-tent build — thin, packable fabric and light-duty waterproofing. Setting them up back to back, three real differences stood out.
Setup is the headline. The CT3’s pre-attached pole system means it more or less springs into shape, while the CT1 is a normal lay-it-out, thread-the-poles dome. If you set up and tear down a lot, the CT3’s speed is genuinely nice to have.
Ventilation goes to the CT3. Its 4-side mesh moves more air than the CT1’s mesh top and door, which is the kind of thing you notice on a muggy summer night.
Value goes to the CT1. It’s the cheaper and slightly lighter tent, and if you’re happy with a standard pitch you’re not really giving anything up in durability — both are built to the same budget standard.
